RPM:
|
Revolutions Per Minute, speed the engine's pistons are moving.

Chasis:
|
The skeleton frame of the car to which all components are attached.

Slick Tyre:
|
A special racing tyre designed for dry weather with no tread ensuring maximum contact space with the road.
|
|
Wet Tyre:
|
A special racing tyre designed for wet weather. Has a deep tread designed to be more efficient at gripping the road through water.
|
|
Brake-bias:
|
All single-seaters have independent front and rear brakes, and the "effectiveness" of each can be adjusted from the cockpit. In the dry, the bias is set to the front of the car so that the front brakes lock first; in the rain the bias is to the rear.

|
Under-steer:
|
The front of the car cannot follow the driver's steering and so slides away from the corner.
|
|
Over-steer:
|
The front of the car follows the driver's steering but the rear-end is unable to grip and kicks out away from the corner.
|
|
Paddock:
|
The restricted area reserved for race teams to set up their mobile garages to prepare the cars for the race.
|
|
Pits:
|
Area adjacent to the circuit opposite the start/finish line used by all teams during the race to monitor and maintain the cars during the race.
|
|
Grid:
|
Starting line up for the race. Your order on the grid is decided in the qualifying session. The fastest lap in qualifying starts at the front of the grid.
|
|
Pole Position:
|
First place on the grid for the start of the race.
|
|
Apex:
|
The clipping point at the middle of a corner.
|
|
Hell and Toe:
|
The driver must operate both the clutch, brake and accelerator all at the same time when changing down gears! The right foot "toe" does the braking and the heel operates the accelerator, and the left foot the clutch.

Dialled out:
|
Corrections made to car set-up.
|
|
Set-up:
|
Adjustments made to suspension geometry of the car to achieve maximum grip and balance.
|
|
Tow:
|
When following a car on straights, the air flow is disturbed causing a "tunnel" which creates the effect of pulling the second car towards the leading car.
|
|
Undriveable:
|
A driver's excuse for the car when he is completely messing up and needs to blame something!
|
|
Red Mist:
|
The driver has lost it and anything can happen!
|
|
Yellow Flag:
|
Warning to driver that there is danger ahead.
|
|
Green Flag:
|
Driver has cleared the danger.
|
|
Blue Flag:
|
Shown to slower cars that the leader is closing and needs to pass.
|
|
Chequered Flag:
|
The race is over.
